Prepare to Pedal with New Bike Repair Stations

September has been full of progress and excitement for the Singing River Trail and outdoor communities across North Alabama.

Courtland Trail Progress

Earlier this year, Courtland was awarded a $1.5 million appropriation through Representative Aderholt’s office to develop new trails. This month, the SRT team met with the Town of Courtland and The Kelley Group, LLC to finalize the trail route from Roy Coffey Park through Courtland’s charming downtown and connecting to Big Nance Creek, expanding recreational access in the area. Adjustments have been made to stay within budget, and environmental studies are already underway. With updated cost estimates, the next big step is on the horizon — breaking ground!

Singing River 5K & 10K

August 31st was a fantastic day for running, as the Singing River 5K and 10K races kicked off under clear skies. A huge thanks to Fringe Events for organizing such a fun event! Congratulations to all the winners and finishers for showing up and pushing themselves in support of our beautiful trail system.

Expanding Bike Repair Stations

SRT is thrilled to be partnering with HUBS Coop to order bike repair stations for local trails and parks, including Ditto Landing and Rhodes Ferry Park. These stations will provide essential support to keep cyclists safe and prepared. If your organization is interested in purchasing one, feel free to reach out to Katie at [email protected].

Launch Tank 2025

Exciting news! Planning for LaunchTank 2025 is officially underway. The Executive Committee met this month and is gearing up for an incredible event to be held in Jackson County next year. Stay tuned for more updates on this celebration of innovation in outdoor recreation.

Elgie’s Walk Greenway
