Singing River Trail’s Latest Milestones
It has been a busy season for Singing River Trail! We proudly continue our commitment to strengthening regional bonds and creating opportunities for health and wellness, education, tourism, entrepreneurship, and economic development in North Alabama.
We extend our most heartfelt appreciation to all of our partners across the state, large and small, for your encouragement and commitment to making this vision become a reality.
$1.5 Million Grant for Courtland
Singing River Trail and the Town of Courtland, with the leadership and support of Congressman Robert Aderholt, received a $1.5 million earmark to be administered through the USDA Rural Development Grant Program to build the SRT through the Town of Courtland. The trail will connect Roy Coffee Ball Park to the historic town square. Preliminary work has already begun and we are looking forward to sharing the progress!
TAP Grant Projects
Our 4 TAP Grant Projects (Leighton, Huntsville, Gurley & Bridgeport) are in phases of design and engineering. Crews will begin moving dirt in Leighton in September 2024.
Signage & Wayfinding
We are currently working with local communities to identify placement of signage and wayfinding for existing trails. Development of an online map of existing and future trails is currently underway. The trail is NOW!
Eastern Route Master Plan
With the help of our friends at GMC, the Eastern Route Master Plan in Jackson County has been completed. The trail will connect the county’s three primary towns (Scottsboro, Stevenson, and Bridgeport) along the SRT primary route and highlight the county’s pristine beauty using adjacent trails in the Skyline WMA public lands and along the Paint Rock River to link unique outdoor recreational sites.

Congratulations to the competition winner Flirty Flame Candle Company and the eleven other finalists who competed in this year’s event.
